EVALUATION - SPARK
Also, to measure improvement in the use of transition activities surrounding the move to kindergarten, SPARK collects survey data on transitions practices from parents, teachers and principals/administrators in preschool and elementary schools. Some typical transition activities include the parent and child visiting a kindergarten class, touring the school building, riding a school bus, meeting or communicating with the kindergarten teacher, attending kindergarten registration, or receiving a letter from the school all before the start of school. The following chart shows the use of transition activities from both SPARK and Non-SPARK families in 2007.
