Evaluation

To measure improvement in the use of transition activities surrounding the move to kindergarten, SPARK collects data

on transition practices from parents, teachers and principals/administrators in preschools and elementary schools.

Some typical transition activities include the parent and child visiting a kindergarten class, touring the school building,

riding a school bus, meeting or communicating with the kindergarten teacher, attending kindergarten registration,

or receiving a letter from the school, all before the start of the school year.

The chart below shows the use of transition activities in 2010 from both SPARK and Non-SPARK families in Stark County.
